Current Happenings

by Kortney Campbell on June 6, 2012

So on Monday, I was over on Sometimes Sweet and saw a fun little post Dani shared about what she’s currently up to. I love being able to have an inside peek at fellow blogger’s happenings, so figured I’d share mine as well!

Reading: I recently started round 2 of The Hobbit. Tolkien makes me smile and I really wanted to go back through the book (and maybe have an LOTR movie AND book marathon) before the new movie comes out. I’m not sure if I’ll make it through all three of the others before the movie comes out, but I’m going to give it one helluva go!

Fun Fact: I can write in Hobbit runes (the symbols you see in the book). It’s actually a full alphabet created by Tolkein and based off of Old English Runes. I even have a tattoo in Hobbit. Don’t judge…

Watching: I was pretty excited when I saw that Dani had started watching Vampire Diaries as well because fantasy and sci-fi are my guilty pleasures. You may hate me after I say this, but I cannot stand reality TV. I figure, since I live in reality, why not watch shows about stuff I can’t see in daily life? I’ve not only become obsessed with Vampire Diaries, but Being Human as well (while waiting on Once Upon a Time & Grimm to come back on, of course).

Anticipating: Baby Campbell’s arrival. We went in for a doctor’s appointment last week (at 20 weeks) and found out that he is 15oz. I’m not sure how accurate the baby weight is, but if that’s correct, he is quite large! His little legs are so long and he’s quite the crazy baby already. I’m convinced he does cartwheels several times a day.

PS: I think we can go on the record saying we officially have a name picked out. I can’t wait to spill the beans to everyone!

Laughing about:  How obsessive I’ve become with baby things. We literally haven’t bought anything brand new, but I’ve been finding so many thrifted treasures (including a vintage desk turned changing table) and we have so many amazing things that friends have been passing down. I’m so excited…his room is literally filled with so much unorganized crap that you can’t walk through it! Oh yeah- and the fact that I was so convinced he was a she that many of those thrifted treasures are pink and ruffly…

Listening to: Interpol. They’re one of my favorites lately and a month or so back, I had John teach me this song on the bass. I’m no pro or anything, but I was pretty proud. Maybe I should start practicing again so I can attempt to talk him into starting a family band. I’m never successful at these attempts, but it’s worth a try.

Eating: I’ve moved on from my Mexican kick to Cuban food. I could literally live off of black beans, rice and tostones…with hot sauce, of course (Have you tried the new Buffalo style Tobasco??). I just can’t get enough of it. This baby is most definitely a little quarter-rican!

Working on: I recently gave up my salaried job to open my own consulting company called Rocket Man Social Media. It’s a crap load of work (which is why I’m posting this so late tonight), but it’s completely worth it. Now I’ll be able to stay home with baby Campbell when he gets here, which makes me so happy.

Wishing: I could have a beer. Seriously. I don’t drink very often, but I really miss being able to have a beer or glass of wine with dinner (that photo is of the last beer I had a few weeks before finding out I was pregnant). A lot of people say you can have a drink or two, but I won’t even take Tylenol. Also, one drink got me a little tipsy before I was pregnant, so it can’t be good for the mini-mister.

That’s it for me right now. I need to go try to get a show and a chapter in before I head to bed. What are you currently up to? Feel free to do your own “currently” post on your blog as well & share the link in the comments below, we’d love to see what you’re doing!

Thanks to Dani Hampton for sharing this fun idea!

Happy Wednesday!

I love your blog. All of your blogs. I think you are a gifted writer and should one day write a book. Even though you are a busy little momma, keep the blogs coming.
