At our clothing swap this past winter, I grabbed the prettiest purple sweater. The only issue was that it was a size large, and no matter how many times I tried it on with leggings it was just way too big. Since I love the color, I decided to use it for a DIY.
Here’s an easy knit turban headband I came up with. It’s so simple you can sew it by hand. Best of all, you just need a sweater you don’t mind cutting up and some sewing supplies!
1. Cut 2 pieces of the sweater- one 18” x 5” that will serve as the headband and the other 3” x 4” which will be the knot.
2. Sew a seam on the 5” side of the headband & the 4” side of the knot piece.
3. Wrap the knot piece around the headband (with the newly sewn seam on the inside)
4. Turn the knot piece inside out then sew the ends together (creating a loop) to ensure it stays around the headband.
Flip the knot right side out (so that the seem is on the inside) & there you go! It’s really that simple!
What’s your favorite up-cycled DIY you’ve seen lately?
