Since Alexander is a musician, the music in our wedding was a big deal. He had total control over everything musical- from what song I walked down to, to the reception band. He did a really great job, I know I couldn’t have done any better. Like I said in the post from yesterday, our groomsmen played all of the ceremony music & a different guy sang each song as well as swapped instruments a few times. Here’s a run down of what we played, and what we danced to.
The bridesmaids, flower girl & ring barer walked down the isle to Love & some Verses by Iron & Wine.
I walked down the isle to Passenger Seat by Death Cab for Cutie. My brother-in-law sang this one, it was a really sweet moment.
The guys played the Sufijan Stevens version of Come Thou Fount, one of our favorite hymns, during communion.
Some Day by The Strokes was our processional. This one we played from an iPod so the guys could walk back down the isle.
Our first dance was My Ladies House by Iron and Wine.
My dad and I danced to You’ve Got a Friend by James Taylor. Our family always listened to him on road trips and around the house when I was growing up, so it was such a nostalgic song.
Alexander, his brothers and has dad danced the zeibekiko, a traditional greek dance together.
For the rest of the reception we had a live jazz band playing swing music. We had so much fun, but the night seemed to go in the blink of an eye!
I hope you’ve enjoyed our wedding week as much as we’ve enjoyed sharing.
