Have you ladies tried obsessive compulsive cosmetics (occ) yet? It’s a vegan & cruelty free cosmetics company that doesn’t look like it was made in a hippy’s kitchen! haha Sometimes it’s hard to find bright fun lip colors that are vegan, but these Lip Tars have no shortage of colors. From blue to pink to nudes, occ has it all.
I picked up my first tube from the store front in NYC (more on that trip later). After staring at the display of 40 colors, I asked the cute shop girl which ones were the most popular. I tried a few on and decided on this hot pink, named anime. I liked it so much that I kept the color on my lips for the rest of the day (this RARELY happens with lipstick tests)!
So, we know the colors are great but, how does it feel on? Well after a few minutes of wearing it, I realized I had it all over my hand. I asked my husband what it looked like on my face and he said it was fine. Eventually, I found my reflection in a window and it had bled out all around my mouth. It was also all over my teeth…never trust a boy with matters or make up! I eventually found a bathroom & tried to wipe it off but this hot pink lip tar had stained my lips & face!
Even though my first experience wasn’t great, I decided to try again with the method that I usually use with lipstick to get it to stay all day. After I tried this method, I loved the product so much more! Now I want to buy them all up, except the black one…maybe…
- Powder your lips.
- Apply the first coat of lipstick. With the lip tar you only need a TINY dot on the brush.
- Powder again. Be careful when you’re wearing bright lipstick it will get on your brush & you may get it on your face if you aren’t careful.
- Put another coat on.
- I usually blot again and do the finger in the mouth trick to make sure it doesn’t get all over my lips.
Over all, I love the OCC Lip Tar – as long as you prep your lips first. We can’t wait to try some of their other products. What are your favorite vegan lipsticks? We’d love to hear your reviews!
