Quirky Bobby Pin DIY

by Kortney Campbell on April 5, 2012

We know we’re not the only ones with bobby pins all over our houses or the only hoarders of nail polish, buttons, and random craft supplies. So, we decided to put all of these things together to make super cute & easy hair accessories while using up some of the stuff that has been taking up room.

These would be a great gift to make for your favorite lady friend (but we won’t judge if you want to keep them all to yourself). Fun hair accessories can add just the right amount of quirk to any outfit, so go grab a few of those pins from your night stand and get crafty!

What you’ll need:

  • Bobby pins
  • Nail polish
  • Hot glue
  • Buttons, pompoms, fake flowers and odds & ends
  • A think piece of paper

What to Do:

  • Slide the bobby pins onto a thick piece of paper so that they’re easier to hold onto.
  • For the colored bobbies, use one coat of nail polish, let that dry, and then use a top coat to set the color.
  • For the glitter bobby pin, use top a coat, dip it into glitter, and then use a final top coat to seal it.
  • Use hot glue to attach the odds & ends.

This is a fun little craft that kids can enjoy too (under parental supervision, of course)! Get creative – attach whatever you can find, let it dry, and then stick it in your hair!

I'm Kortney; a wife, natural mama and vegan in love with life, food and all things vintage! I've been vegan since December 2007, but have loved to cook & create pretty things since before I can remember. I started Vegan Housewives because I don't think you have to give up the joys of food when going vegan! I have a fondness for re-creating non-vegan recipes (especially my grandma's), making a healthier & animal friendly version so be sure to send me your favorite concoctions by clicking our "share a recipe" button - I would LOVE to veg-i-fy them!

I love this idea! I always end up losing an earring or left with a broken necklace so this is a really creative way to give them a second life. Your blog is one of my favs.

Btw, under the ” what you’ll need” thick is misspelled.
