  • The Boundary: My New Love

by Kortney Campbell on October 8, 2012

I’d like to take a moment to discuss how much I really love dining out. While it’s never the healthiest or cheapest choice on Earth, the whole experience of going out to eat is so exciting to me. In my next life, I should probably be a vegan food taste tester, traveling foodie or something equally as awesome. That being said, Downtown St Pete is home to one of my new obsessions: The Boundary.

I’ve been seeing pictures on Instagram for a while now and have been hearing how amazing it was, so this weekend, while debating where to have a brunch date, John and I decided to test this place out for ourselves. (Check out my hot date above – and feel free to get on team “keep the beard” with me)!

He had the biggest veggie burger ever with sweet potato fries (above) and I had the chipotle BBQ tempeh sliders with regular fries (below) – they even have vegan cheese!

Both of our meals were gigantic (even though we scarfed them down like wild animals) and were only $8 each! I kid you not – I could hardly believe it myself, so I took a picture of our bill as proof:

The best part of all though, is that everything is fresh (to death) and clearly homemade – from the burgers, onion straws and fries right down to the pickles! I’m literally craving this place as I write this…I should have blogged on a full stomach and would probably go back for dinner tonight if I didn’t have to weigh myself at my 39 week midwife appointment tomorrow (womp womp womp)!

Seriously though- If you’re ever in the area to visit The Boundary and looking for a dinner date, count me in. This was only our first round, but they have a ton of vegan options that need to be tested out and there are only so many meals in a day! Also, if beer and live music is your thing, they have you covered there. I clearly can’t drink again just yet (and the husband is straight edge), but you can bet that I will be having a much more “enlightened” brunch there in the near (post-baby Judah) future.

Fun fact: Sources say the building used to be home to a run down strip club, but a few months back, it was (completely sanitized and) converted into one of the best restaurants I’ve ever experienced. Seriously.

Anyways, if you live in the area, this place is a must try, whether you’re vegan or not. They’re located at 1st Ave N and 11th Street. Oh, and they’re closed on Sundays, so plan accordingly!

Be sure to Like the Boundary on Facebook to stay up to date with their happenings and get ready to be in an amazing mood after this little bit of music Monday. I really love this song:

I've been vegan since December 2007, but have loved to cook & create pretty things since before I can remember. I have a fondness for re-creating non-vegan recipes (especially my grandma's), making a healthier & animal friendly version so be sure to send me your favorite concoctions by clicking our "share a recipe" button - I would LOVE to veg-i-fy them!
