I decided to hit up some thrift stores with some girlfriends today. Apparently MLK  is also code for sale at all the thrift stores. I’m pretty sure we waited in line for a total of 45 minutes between the 3 stores we visited, but boy was it worth it! Here are a few of my favorite treasures I found along the way:

Vintage PyrexI scooped up these pyrex nesting bowls in perfect condition!

    Vintage Owl

This wind chime was actually in a bag marked “owls” for $2.00. I wasn’t sure what it was until I took it out of the bag, but $2.00?  How could I pass it up? Side note: The windchime was actually a package deal- I also acquired an interesting group of owl ornaments and figurines (one even missing a foot). It’s a win / win.

Vintage GlassMy husband collects vintage liquor glasses, or rather I collect them in hopes he will start collecting. This glass read “1930 Packard”, and keeping it company is a misfit owl from the aforementioned “owl” bag.

I also picked up a picture of Jesus to add to my “Jesus wall”, a red and white striped sailor shirt with a pirate scull on it (I’m sure it was a child’s shirt), and some velvet loafers. All in all I think it was a really successful day.

PS: Get excited; I heard through the grapevine (read: advertisement) that Goodwill will be having a Presidents Day sale.  If this is anything like today’s MLK sale, get ready to find some great deals.

Have you taken advantage of any thrift sales lately? What did you find?

I found a super cute summer dress, which I could technically wear during our winter!

Those pyrex bowls were a great find. I am always on the lookout for them but never find any in thrift stores. Can you tell us what thrift stores you went to?

Pyrex is one of the things we are always searching for but it is difficult to find around here without taking a trip to the antique store and if a place does happen to have it, it goes fast. In all honesty, it is really hit or miss. There are a couple of places on US 19 that we have gotten lucky at but the trick is to just keep going back. You can also ask each store if that is something they see come in often that way you know how great your odds are. We would love to see your finds!
