Vegan Brunch in Atlanta | Dough Bakery

Vegan-Brunch-Atlanta I’ve mentioned this before, but it can never be said enough: vegan brunch is the best meal of the week. I mean, how can you go wrong with a “late” (the emphasis is a little shout out to all of the parents out there) wake up followed by coffee, breakfast food and often alcoholic beverages before noon…with NO judgement?! Exactly. If brunch is wrong, I don’t want to be right. Which is why every time I go out of town, I search for the best vegan brunch spots I can find….and I think I found the best vegan brunch spot ever created.

Dough-Bakery-Atlanta I’ve been following Dough Bakery on Instagram for a while now after a friend of mine (Bethany, who will actually be sharing some fun stuff here on Vegan Housewives starting in October) told me I should check them out the next time I was in Atlanta. Judah and I have been up in South Carolina this week and took a trip down to Atlanta to meet up with John and a few family members Saturday. So on our way back to SC Sunday morning, we made a pit stop at Dough Bakery!

Dough-Bakery-Atl It’s located right outside of Downtown Atlanta (just a few minutes from one of my favorite places ever- Little Five Points). The inside is super welcoming and cozy with couches to sit on and they even have little cubbies filled with toys, crayons and paper for the little vegan visitors!

I shit you not, this place is what vegan dreams are made of. Not only do they create some amazing vegan baked goods (including homemade bread) and serve the best brunch on earth, but they are a deli as well! All of their vegan “meats” are made in house and they sell them by the pound!

Since we aren’t in Atlanta too often, I loaded up on their vegan goods and brought them back up to share with my (non-vegan) family in order to share a well-rounded review of this fantastic little establishment! Here’s what we tried:

From top to bottom:

  • The All American with country fried “steak”, tofu scramble, home fries, a biscuit, “sausage” gravy & fried pickles.
  • Cinnamon Roll
  • Breakfast sandwich with “egg”, tempeh bacon, cheddar “cheese” and sausage gravy.
  • Jalapeño Cheddar Scone (whaaaat? SO GOOD!)
  • Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding
  • Donut Muffin
  • Vanilla Cupcake with Coconut Bacon (basically, a pancake and bacon cupcake party in your mouth)
  • Pumpkin Brownie

Vegan-Baby And the verdict? We were all obsessed with everything (clearly, Judah included). Literally, not one complaint here. Even the veg-skeptics fell in love with the food! I will definitely be taking day trips to Atlanta more often just to visit this place!

PS: I also drove over to Little Five Points to grab an iced coffee (It was “National Coffee Day”, how could I not?) at Java Vino afterwords and was really impressed! They have Almond and Soy Milk options, vegan Pumpkin Spice as well as vegan treats! I highly suggest that place too! Atlanta has it going on!

    This all looks SO good! My favorite vegan food ever is from Chicago Diner in…you guessed it…Chicago. Have you ever been?

    I wasn’t vegan when I lived in Atlanta and now am so envious of the vegan restaurants the city offers! I look forward to trying Dough Bakery – I used to live in Little Five Points!

    My God, that all looks incredible. The All American would be my jam!

    My favorite brunch is a good (like really good) pancake with tofu scramble and a giant side of tempeh bacon. Or biscuits and gravy. Or tofu scramble, hashbrows, beans and cornbread. Nevermind, I just like all brunch food.

    That Vanilla Coconut Bacon cupcake was awesome, I am one of the skeptic non vegan family who had this cupcake, which did fast just like pancakes and bacon, oh soooo good, and I tried the tempeh egg biscuit and was quite impressed! Great blog!

    YES! We went to Dough earlier this year and were equally impressed. The Country Fried “Steak” was incredible, as was the “sausage” gravy. Actually one of my favorite things from Dough was their housemade queso dip (hot). They sold in it to go containers and man, I wish I had bought two and that it was a shorter drive home to Tampa. It was unlike any other vegan queso I have ever bought. So creamy and so spicy… perfectly balanced.

    While we loved Dough, we may have liked Dulce Vegan just a little bit more. Dulce Vegan is located in the Kirkwood area, not too far from Dough, if I remember right. Their cinnamon rolls BY FAR blew away the baked goods we tried at Dough. Also, their breakfast sandwiches prepared on their fresh english muffins convinced me that I will NEVER eat a store bought muffin again in my life. They were seriously that good! They make an awesome sausage out of black eyed peas that has now become a staple in my house, particularly when we can get the black eyed peas fresh… Dang it! How long of a drive is it to Atlanta????

    Just left DB, interviewed one of the owners, Laura N for a greenpreneur feature in The Eco Review Magazine. Nibbled on the chocolate mint chocolate chip cookies! OMG! Sooo delish they should be outlawed! Fantastic people in a great neighborhood and ridiculously yummy food! Definitely a MUST-visit eatery in the Atlanta Metro if you’re veg, newly veg or veg-curious!
