This weekend, Katie came over for a while to plan out this month’s blogs and help me re-organize and get rid of so much stuff in order to make room for baby Campbell. While she was here, we started talking about summer and ice cream which eventually led to coke floats. While coke and root beer floats are fun, we wanted to test out a few fun ideas and came up with a couple of non-traditional (but so delicious) floats that we think you may love!
Kortney’s Orange Creamcicle Float:
When I was younger, sometimes after school, my grandma and I would to go to this giant warehouse that sold Florida oranges, fresh salsa and homemade orange vanilla swirl soft serve among other things. I can still remember how much I loved those trips – the ice cream was AMAZING to say the least. Since I don’t get soft serve too often anymore (there are no vegan places that sell it around here), I figured I’d try out the float version of this treat.
I used Almond Dream vanilla “ice cream” and Virgil’s Orange Cream Soda. Just a warning, this brand of ice cream is more icy than creamy. So if creamy is your thing, you may want to opt for the Soy or Coconut based version.
Anyways, it was delicious (I’m actually planning on having another tonight)
Katie’s Chocolate Covered Cherry Float:
As you may know, Katie loves chocolate. She went with the So Delicous chocolate ice cream and Virgils Black Cherry Cream Soda. It’s kind of like the liquid version of a chocolate covered cherry. I can’t wait to try this one!
What’s your favorite type of float? Have you done any experimenting with them? We’d love to hear your ideas!
