Where in the World Did You Go?

by Kortney Campbell on August 13, 2012

So, I’m very aware of the fact that I’ve been completely MIA for a while. If you’re a regular reader, I apologize for leaving you hanging. I’ve received an abundance of emails lately and figured it may help to just go ahead and post the answers to them here.

Why hasn’t the blog been updated daily as usual? Were in the heck have you been?

First off, I’d like to apologize for letting the blog pretty much fall off the face of the Earth for the past couple of months. I’ve had quite the event-filled summer in a not-so-positive way. We don’t tend to dive too far into our personal lives on this blog, but I think at least a bit of an explanation is due.

On Father’s Day, I had a huge falling out with a family member that some would call “major”. Some things were said that I would never wish on anyone which lead to a panic attack induced bout of very early contractions that I thought to be pre-mature labor. While it wasn’t and everything is fine with me and baby Campbell, it was a pretty scary experience and it took a toll on me.

Just a few weeks later, after a lot of nesting in preparation for the baby, John and I were told that we had to be out of our apartment in 30 days. The landlord wanted to up the rent and believed we had “out grown it”. Considering we pay our rent a month in advance, I’m assuming that was her way of saying “no babies allowed”. We searched high and low for weeks, but rentals are rare in this area and no one would let us bring our dog. Being so pressed for time we decided to put a deposit down on a house in a bad neighborhood. The week before we moved in, John changed his mind and didn’t want to raise a family there, so we jumped ship.

With only a week to spare, we found a perfect little house (pictured) that needed a bit of TLC. With the help of some friends and family, we got completely moved in only to discover that we had no water meter, water heater, AC or working appliances and a huge ant problem. Not to mention, I work from home, so there was no escape. By this time, I was preparing myself for a pregnancy rage blackout.

I won’t go through any more details, but we now live in a functioning home and I’m beginning to get the hang of managing my business from our new location. Maybe when we get the baby’s room finished, we’ll have a little home tour shoot.

So again, crazy summer. But on the upside, I believe the whole situation was meant to be. From the fallout to the new house, I feel a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders and I love our new place!

When will Vegan Housewives have an Etsy shop up?

We actually have a whole bunch of fun vintage items sitting in Katie’s closet ready to be sold, but haven’t had a chance to edit all of the photos and get the Etsy shop up and running. This has definitely been on our to-do list over the past few months, we just need to set aside a day to get to work.

Are you taking sponsorships?

Like the Etsy shop, this is something I’ve put on the back burner. The main reason being, I wanted to make sure all plans were in place prior to beginning sponsorships to ensure our sponsors were getting the maximum exposure possible. Hopefully this program will be ready for lift off for September. We will keep you posted, but if you are interested in more information, feel free to email us at TheLadies [AT] VeganHousewives [DOT] com.

How can we get you to feature our products on your blog?

We love featuring product reviews. However, keep in mind that we will not accept money to falsify an opinion on a product. If you have something awesome and vegan that you’d like to share with the world, email us at TheLadies [AT] VeganHousewives [DOT] com. We’ll send you our mailing address, test out the item and post our thoughts on it!

Will this become a mommy blog after the baby comes?

“Mommy blogs” are our guilty pleasure (even before I was pregnant). Who doesn’t love ladies as lovely as Bleubird and OhDearDrea though? Not to mention the many others…It’s so inspiring to see these ladies and their amazingly adorable families. We just love them! While Vegan Housewives’ focus will continue to be on maintaining a vegan lifestyle, we will be sure to add a Vegan Baby section where I’ll share the things I learn about raising a vegan baby (e.g. recipes, products etc.).

Can I blog on Vegan Housewives?

We LOVE having guest bloggers as well as contributors! Are you vegan and ready to share your findings with the world? Email us at TheLadies [AT] VeganHousewives [DOT] com with the following details:  who you are, why you’d like to blog for Vegan Housewives, what you’d like to blog about and some samples of other places you’ve written and we’ll get back with you ASAP! Please note that all posts are monitored and edited and must match the theme of the blog.

All in all, I’m happy to be back to blogging in our little space of the internet. Hopefully this blog will answer a few of your questions!

In celebration of Taking Back Sunday’s 10 year anniversary of Tell All Your Friends Tour (and reminiscing my high school years):

Happy Monday!

XoXo- Kortney

About Kortney Campbell

I'm Kortney; a wife, natural mama and vegan in love with life, food and all things vintage! I've been vegan since December 2007, but have loved to cook & create pretty things since before I can remember. I started Vegan Housewives because I don't think you have to give up the joys of food when going vegan! I have a fondness for re-creating non-vegan recipes (especially my grandma's), making a healthier & animal friendly version so be sure to send me your favorite concoctions by clicking our "share a recipe" button - I would LOVE to veg-i-fy them!
