I’m pretty excited about Judah’s 1st birthday. Definitely more excited than he is (considering he has no idea) and most likely too excited for my own good. However, I’ve noticed lately that the more toys he has, the less he actually plays with them. And in an effort to rid ourselves of plastic as much as possible, I’ve been on a wooden toy kick!
If you’re looking for some fun (gender neutral) wooden toy ideas for a little one in your life, here are a few of our current favorites and links to where you can buy them on the cheap! 1| My Busy Town Baby Wooden Developmental Toy by Alex. I love these developmental blocks because there is so much to do and learn from ONE toy. Not to mention, cleanup is so simple (one day I will calculate how many minutes of my life I actually spend picking up the same toys each day).
2| Natural ABC Blocks by Wooden Landmark. Blocks double as teethers in our house so natural wood is always a plus. Also, we love the ABC song! The letters may not be retained, but in my opinion, it’s great to let them hear/see them early!
3| Pound & Tap Bench by Hape. Anything musical or that comes with a hammer is a go in our house. Which is kind of ironic because Judah broke his piano a few months back with (you’ll never guess…) a hammer!
4| Chomp & Clack Alligator Push Toy by Melissa & Doug. Judah is walking all over the place now and LOVES to push, pull and carry things along the way. Also, I’ve been happy with everything we have by this brand so far!
5| Pyramid of Play Nesting Blocks by Hape. While we’re more in the “push it over” phase (as opposed to the “build it up”), I really love the idea of giant wooden nesting blocks! They are so fun for stacking up (or inside) and these are extra fun because they add shape and color sorting, counting and animals to the mix.
I’ve really been loving The Melissa and Doug brand lately! They’re so reasonable and pretty easily accessible! Does your little one like wooden toys? Do you have any of these? What do you think?
If you or your kids have any favorites, we’d love to hear about them in the comments below!
