Restaurant Review || Lotus Veg

by Kortney Campbell on January 10, 2013

46-Vegan-Bánh-Mì-Sandwich-Combo Since the last restaurant review on The Boundary, it closed down. So we’ve been a little bummed out and in need of a new vegan restaurant in these parts. Thankfully, on our way home from my very last postpartum midwife appointment, we came across Lotus Vegetarian (using the VegOut app). We’ve been here numerous times since and are absolutely obsessed!

Lotus-Vegetarian I tend to be a creature of habit when it comes to food. I like to eat the same things at the same time each day for several weeks at a time. It keeps me on track with healthy eating, but it also sticks with me when I go to restaurants. If I find a dish I like, I never switch it up because every time I do, it’s an epic failure and can’t compare.

19-Phở-Xào-Mềm With Lotus, the menu is so full of awesome stuff that from our first visit I decided I was going to try something different every time(scroll over or click the photos for the menu number and name of the dish). So far, we’ve been there 3 or 4 times for dinner and again for a buffet and I’ve stuck to my guns (John however gets the #19 without fail)!

Vegan-Thai-Tea Everything we’ve tried has been absolutely amazing and we love the waitress we’ve had every time (she always remembers our Thai Tea)! Speaking of that…the Thai Tea and fresh rolls are hands down the best I’ve ever had!

35-Vegan-Chicken-Curry One of my favorite things about Lotus is the fact that they don’t use mock meats. Sure, I love a fake drumstick every now and again (and had some bomb-ass ones at my wedding) but my digestive system hates me when I eat them! Since Lotus only uses tofu and everything is prepared fresh with a minimum amount of oil, I always leave feeling great!

05-Vegan-Fresh-Roll Also, on the 4th Saturday of every month, they have a huge vegan buffet for $9.99 – You can even contribute menu ideas on their facebook page! The next one is on the 26th at 6pm and you can bet your sweet ass that the Campbells will be there! These things get packed out and it’s not a huge place which means you end up sharing tables with strangers (which is awesome)! If you plan on coming, be sure to get there early!

4 Have you been to Lotus yet? What did you think? After revisiting all of these pictures, I’m going to go try to talk John into eating dinner here now!

About Kortney Campbell

I'm Kortney; a wife, natural mama and vegan in love with life, food and all things vintage! I've been vegan since December 2007, but have loved to cook & create pretty things since before I can remember. I started Vegan Housewives because I don't think you have to give up the joys of food when going vegan! I have a fondness for re-creating non-vegan recipes (especially my grandma's), making a healthier & animal friendly version so be sure to send me your favorite concoctions by clicking our "share a recipe" button - I would LOVE to veg-i-fy them!

    Mmmm, that looks like a great restaurant replacement. I am like you when I go out to eat. I do consider myself a very adventurous eater, but when we don’t frequent a restaurant a lot, I just want to stick with my most beloved dishes.
